We’ve created environment for democracy to flourish —Army

The Nigerian Army on Friday commenced the 2013 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), saying that it has been providing an enabling environment for democracy to flourish in the country.

Addressing newsmen on Friday, the  Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant-General  Onyeabo Ihejirika, said the week-long event with the theme: “Enhancing the Nigerian Army Capacity Building Efforts Towards Improved National Security” will afford the army the opportunity to relate with the larger society by collaborating with it in the maintenance of law and order, as well as ensuring security of life and property.
