Chime sacks commissioner

Enugu-State-Governor-Sullivan-Chime

IN an apparent response to the demand by the Enugu Province of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Governor Sullivan Chime yesterday sacked his Commissioner for Education, Simon Ortuanya, and replaced him with Prof. Chris Okoro.
Ortuanya, who was appointed soon after Chime won his re-election in 2011, had been involved in controversy with the Anglican Church over the way he handled the return of schools to the missions, as well as the distribution of buses recently procured for secondary schools in the state.
