Communities enjoined to complement govt on education

Communities in Kwara State and their leaders have been charged to be alive to educational responsibilities in their various areas as part of measures to complement government efforts in the area of educational development.

Speaking with executive members of the Corespondents’ Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kwara State in Ilorin, during a courtesy call to his office, the chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Alhaji Lanre Daibu, said government alone cannot shoulder all educational responsibilities in the state.

Alhaji Daibu, who said the state government has established the school-based management committees in various communities in the state to ensure that communities and their leaders were involved in the management of primary schools located in their various communities, added that the committee programme would soon be extended to junior secondary schools in the state.
